Privacy Policy
Effective: April 11, 2026
Short version: NirooRemote is a remote control app for Samsung Smart TVs. The app collects no personal data and sends no data to any third-party servers. All functionality happens exclusively within your local network between your device and your TV.
1. What data is processed?
The app stores only on your device:
- IP addresses and device IDs of the Samsung TVs you connect to
- Authentication tokens issued by your TV during initial pairing
- Your favorite channels, apps, and macros
- App preferences (theme, haptic feedback, etc.)
- Cached EPG data (TV guide), if you use that feature
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any cloud.
2. Network access
NirooRemote needs access to your local network (Wi-Fi/LAN) to:
- Discover Samsung TVs on the network (mDNS/network scan)
- Send commands to the TV via WebSocket
- Read volume via UPnP
- Send Wake-on-LAN packets to wake the TV from standby
- Optionally fetch EPG data from an XMLTV URL (you configure the URL yourself)
3. Tracking / Analytics
The app uses no tracking frameworks, no advertising SDKs, no Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook SDK, or similar.
4. Third parties
NirooRemote communicates only with:
- Your Samsung TV on your local network
- Optionally: the EPG server whose URL you configure in settings (default: epg.pw)
If you use an EPG server, its own privacy policy applies.
5. Your rights (GDPR)
Since NirooRemote does not collect or transmit personal data, there is nothing to delete or disclose — except the data on your own device. You can fully remove this by uninstalling the app.
6. Children
NirooRemote is not specifically aimed at children under 13, but is suitable for use by minors, as no data is collected or transmitted.
7. Changes to this policy
Any changes to this privacy policy will be announced in the app and in the store listing. The date at the top marks the current version.
